Major functions of the Pune RTOs

According to the 1988, Motor Vehicles Act, the Pune RTOs are entrusted with the following duties.

• Issuing and renewing vehicle registration certificates or RCs for all types of vehicles paying on the state roads. This includes private, commercial, heavy vehicles, and everything in between.
• Issuing and renewing driving licenses for individuals of the state. The RTOs are also eligible to issue international driving licenses as well.

• Issuing PUC certificates to vehicles after rigorous testing.
• Issuing fitness certificates for vehicles paying on the roads of Maharashtra.
• Issuing NOCs or No Objection Certificates for vehicles during resale.
• Conducting hypothecation endorsements and termination for vehicles in the registration certificate.
• Issuing other permits to vehicles like interstate permits, goods carriage permits, and more.

How can you register your vehicle under the Pune RTO?

For any new vehicles, both private and commercial, would need to be registered with the RTOs in Pune for legal use on the city’s roads. In case you have bought a new vehicle in Pune, here is how you can register your vehicle with the Pune RTO.

• Visit your nearest RTO in Pune with your vehicle to start the registration process.
• Fill out the Form 20 (vehicle registration form) along with all the necessary vehicle details.
