Major functions of the Nurpur RTOs

According to the 1988, Motor Vehicles Act, the Nurpur RTOs are entrusted with the following duties.

  • Issuing and renewing vehicle registration certificates or RCs for all types of vehicles paying on the state roads. This includes private, commercial, heavy vehicles, and everything in between.
  • Issuing and renewing driving licenses for individuals of the state. The RTOs are also eligible to issue international driving licenses as well.
  • Issuing other types of licenses like conductor licenses and performing all licence related services within the state.
  • Original sale certificate
  • Collection of road tax for the state government.
  • Inspection of vehicles at check posts and other areas.
  • Issuing PUC certificates to vehicles after rigorous testing.
  • Issuing fitness certificates for vehicles paying on the roads of Himachal Pradesh.
  • Issuing NOCs or No Objection Certificates for vehicles during resale.
  • Conducting hypothecation endorsements and termination for vehicles in the registration certificate.
  • Issuing other permits to vehicles like interstate permits, goods carriage permits, and more.

How can you register your vehicle under the Nurpur RTO?
